Sopa de Pescado y Plรกtano Verde
A hearty and flavorful fish soup made with green plantains, fish, and aromatic vegetables. The green plantains break down to create a thick, comforting broth, making this a staple dish.

- 1 medium Red bell pepper(seeded and chopped)
- 1/2 cup Cilantro(fresh, chopped)

๐จโ๐ณ ์กฐ๋ฆฌ๋ฒ
- 1
Heat palm oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sautรฉ until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- 2
Add minced garlic, chopped tomatoes, and chopped red bell pepper. Cook for another 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until vegetables begin to soften.
- 3
Add the green plantain pieces and fish stock (or water) to the pot. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for about 30 minutes, or until the plantains are very tender and starting to break down.
- 4
Carefully add the fish chunks to the simmering soup. If using, add the minced scotch bonnet pepper. Cook for another 5-10 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily.
- 5
Stir in the chopped cilantro. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Simmer for an additional 2 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
- 6
Serve hot, ensuring each bowl has pieces of fish and tender plantains. The broth should be slightly thickened by the broken-down plantains.
๐ก ์ ๋ฌธ๊ฐ ํ
- โFor a thicker soup, you can mash some of the cooked plantains against the side of the pot before adding the fish.
- โAdjust the amount of scotch bonnet pepper to your spice preference, or omit it entirely.
- โEnsure the fish is added towards the end of cooking to prevent it from overcooking and becoming dry.
