Roasted Goat Meat
A flavorful and tender roasted goat meat dish, often prepared for special occasions. The goat is marinated and slow-roasted to perfection, resulting in succulent meat with a rich, savory flavor. It's typically served with sadza (a stiff maize porridge) and a side of relish or vegetables.

- 2 tablespoons Ginger(freshly grated)
- 3 tablespoons Curry powder
- 2 tablespoons Paprika

- 1
In a large bowl, combine chopped onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, curry powder, paprika, cumin, coriander, black pepper, salt, and vegetable oil. Mix well to create a marinade.
- 2
Add the goat meat pieces to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well coated. Cover the bowl and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
- 3
Preheat your oven to 160ยฐC (325ยฐF). If using a traditional roasting pot (like a three-legged pot), prepare it for slow cooking over coals or a low flame.
- 4
Arrange the marinated goat meat in a large roasting pan or the traditional pot. Add the water or beef broth to the bottom of the pan/pot.
- 5
Cover the roasting pan tightly with foil or the lid of the pot. Roast in the preheated oven for 3 to 4 hours, or until the goat meat is very tender and easily pulls apart.
- 6
In the last 30 minutes of cooking, remove the foil or lid to allow the meat to brown and crisp up slightly.
- 7
Once cooked, let the meat rest for about 10-15 minutes before serving. Serve hot with sadza and your favorite relish.

- โMarinating the goat meat overnight is highly recommended for maximum flavor penetration.
- โIf you don't have a large roasting pan, you can use a Dutch oven or a traditional Zimbabwean pot.
- โAdjust the spices according to your preference. Some variations may include chili for a bit of heat.
