- 400 g Tomatoes(canned chopped or fresh, pureed)
- 2 tbsp Tomato paste
- 3 cloves Garlic(minced)
- 1 inch piece Ginger(grated)
- 1 small Scotch bonnet pepper(finely chopped, or to taste (optional))
- 3 tbsp Vegetable oil
- 2 cups Fish stock or water
- 1 tsp Salt(or to taste)
- 0.5 tsp Black pepper
- 0.25 cup Coriander leaves(chopped, for garnish)

Place the yam chunks in a pot, cover with water, add a pinch of salt, and boil until tender but not mushy. Drain and set aside.
