🧂 Ingredients
- 300 g All-purpose flour(divided)
- 200 g Granulated sugar(divided)
- 150 g Unsalted butter(cold and cubed, divided)
- 3 large Eggs
- 100 ml Milk
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 0.5 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1 kg Apples(peeled, cored, and sliced (e.g., Gala, Honeycrisp, or a mix))
- 1 tbsp Lemon juice
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a 24cm (9-inch) springform pan.
- 2
For the streusel topping: In a bowl, combine 100g flour, 50g sugar, and 0.5 tsp cinnamon. Cut in 75g cold butter with your fingertips or a pastry blender until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside.
- 3
For the cake batter: In a large bowl, cream together the remaining 150g sugar and 75g butter until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the milk.
- 4
In a separate bowl, whisk together the remaining 200g flour, baking powder, salt, and 0.5 tsp cinnamon. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- 5
Toss the sliced apples with lemon juice and the remaining 0.5 tsp cinnamon. Spread half of the batter evenly into the prepared pan. Layer half of the apple slices over the batter. Spread the remaining batter over the apples, then top with the remaining apple slices.
- 6
Sprinkle the prepared streusel topping evenly over the apples. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean and the topping is golden brown.
- 7
Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes before removing the springform ring. Serve warm or at room temperature.
