Ti Malice Sauce
Ti Malice is a classic Haitian hot sauce, known for its fiery kick from Scotch bonnet peppers, balanced with aromatics like onion, garlic, and a touch of acidity from vinegar and lime. It's a versatile condiment used to spice up any dish.

🧂 Ingredients
- 2 Scotch bonnet peppers(chopped, seeds and membranes removed for less heat)
- 1 small Onion(chopped)
- 0.5 Red bell pepper(chopped)
- 3 cloves Garlic(chopped)
- 2 tbsp Tomato paste
- 2 tbsp Apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp Lime juice(freshly squeezed)
- 1 cup Water(or more, to reach desired consistency)
- 1 tsp Olive oil
- 0.5 tsp Salt(or to taste)
- 0.25 tsp Black pepper(freshly ground)
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1
Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and red bell pepper and sauté until softened, about 5 minutes.
- 2
Add the chopped garlic and scotch bonnet peppers to the saucepan and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- 3
Stir in the tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, lime juice, water, salt, and black pepper. Bring the mixture to a boil.
💡 Tip: Ensure the tomato paste is well incorporated. - 4
Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- 5
Let the sauce cool slightly, then transfer it to a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth, or to your desired consistency.
💡 Tip: Add more water if a thinner sauce is preferred. - 6
Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Pour the sauce into a clean bottle or airtight container and refrigerate.
💡 Pro Tips
- ✓Wear gloves when handling scotch bonnet peppers to avoid skin irritation.
- ✓For a milder sauce, use fewer scotch bonnet peppers or substitute with milder chilies.
- ✓The sauce can be made chunkier by pulsing the blender instead of blending until completely smooth.
🔄 Variations
- Add a pinch of ground cloves for an extra layer of flavor.
- Some recipes include a small amount of red wine vinegar for a different tangy profile.
