Zimbabwean Chicken and Sweet Potato Stew
A hearty and flavorful stew combining tender chicken pieces with sweet potatoes, simmered in a rich tomato and onion base with aromatic spices. This dish offers a comforting blend of sweet and savory notes, typical of Zimbabwean home cooking.

- 1 kg Chicken pieces(bone-in, skin-on, cut into serving pieces)
- 500 g Sweet potatoes(peeled and cubed)
- 2 large Onions(chopped)
- 400 g Tomatoes(canned chopped, or fresh ripe tomatoes, chopped)
- 4 cloves Garlic(minced)
- 1 tablespoon Ginger(grated)
- 3 tablespoons Vegetable oil
- 500 ml Chicken broth
- 2 teaspoons Curry powder
- 1 teaspoon Cumin
- 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
- 0.5 teaspoon Turmeric
- to taste Salt
- to taste Black pepper
- a handful Fresh cilantro(chopped, for garnish)

Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper.

Heat vegetable oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Brown the chicken pieces on all sides. Remove chicken and set aside.

Add chopped onions to the pot and sauté until softened and lightly browned.
