  • 150 ml Warm water
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 500 g Fresh or frozen sweet cherries, pitted
  • 3-4 tbsp Granulated sugar(adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 50 g Unsalted butter, melted (for serving)
  • 150 g Sour cream (for serving)

  • For a richer dough, you can substitute half of the water with milk.
  • If cherries are very tart, you may need to increase the sugar.
  • Varenyky can be boiled from frozen; add a few extra minutes to the cooking time.
