  • 400 g Basmati rice(rinsed and soaked for 30 minutes)
  • 2 medium Onions(finely chopped)
  • 4 cloves Garlic(minced)
  • 400 g Tomatoes(crushed or pureed)
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 800 ml Chicken or lamb broth
  • 3 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 piece Cinnamon stick
  • 3 pods Cardamom pods(lightly crushed)
  • 4 whole Cloves
  • 1 leaf Bay leaf
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Coriander powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin powder
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper
  • 50 g Toasted slivered almonds(for garnish)
  • 2 tbsp Fresh parsley(chopped, for garnish)
