- 250 ml Warm milk
- 7 g Active dry yeast
- 75 g Granulated sugar(divided)
- 2 large Eggs
- 50 g Butter(melted)
- 1 tsp Salt
- 300 g Sour cherries(pitted and drained (fresh or frozen))
- 100 g Walnuts(chopped)
- 1 tsp Lemon zest
- 1 for wash Egg yolk
- 1 tbsp Milk(for wash)

Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine warm milk, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and the yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, remaining sugar, eggs, melted butter, salt, and the activated yeast mixture. Mix until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.

While the dough rises, prepare the filling: In a bowl, combine the pitted cherries, chopped walnuts, lemon zest, and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Mix well.

Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a large rectangle (about 30x40 cm) on a lightly floured surface.
