  • 2 Bay leaves
  • 1 tsp Dill seeds(slightly crushed)
  • 2 Cardamom pods
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 1 tsp Turmeric
  • 2 tsp Salt(plus more to taste)
  • 1 tsp Black pepper(freshly ground)
  • 250 g Maftoul(rinsed and drained (approx. 1.5 cups))
  • 750 ml Chicken broth(plus more for cooking maftoul)
  • 1 can Chickpeas(15 oz, drained and rinsed)
  • 1 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 0.5 Lemon(juiced)
  • 0.25 cup Parsley(fresh, chopped, for garnish)
