Baked Stuffed Breadfruit
A hearty and flavorful dish where breadfruit is hollowed out and filled with a savory mixture of minced meat, vegetables, and seasonings, then baked until tender and golden.

🧂 Ingredients
- 1 whole Breadfruit(medium-sized)
- 225 g Minced meat(beef, pork, or chicken)
- 1 medium Onion(finely chopped)
- 1 clove Garlic(minced)
- 1 medium Tomato(chopped)
- 2 tbsp Chives(chopped)
- 25 g Butter
- 1 tsp Salt(to taste)
- 0.5 tsp Black pepper(to taste)
- 500 ml Water(for boiling)
- 1 tbsp Oil(for sautéing)
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1
Parboil the whole breadfruit in salted water for about 20-25 minutes, or until slightly tender when pierced with a fork.
- 2
While the breadfruit is parboiling, prepare the filling. Sauté the chopped onion, minced garlic, and chives in a tablespoon of oil over medium heat until softened.
- 3
Add the minced meat to the pan and cook until browned. Stir in the chopped tomato, salt, and pepper. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the tomato softens.
- 4
Once the breadfruit is parboiled, carefully remove it from the water. Let it cool slightly, then cut it in half and scoop out the seeds and some of the flesh to create a cavity for the filling. Be careful not to scoop too deep and break the skin.
- 5
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
💡 Tip: Ensure the oven is fully preheated before baking. - 6
Generously fill the cavities of the breadfruit halves with the meat mixture.
💡 Tip: Pack the filling in firmly. - 7
Brush the top of the filling and the exposed breadfruit with melted butter.
- 8
Place the stuffed breadfruit halves in a greased baking dish. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the breadfruit is fully tender and the filling is heated through and slightly browned on top.
💡 Tip: Baste the breadfruit with pan juices or a little more melted butter halfway through baking for extra moisture and flavor. - 9
Serve hot.
