🧂 Ingredients

  • 400 g Pork loin(cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 2 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 large Egg white
  • 3 tbsp Vegetable oil(divided)
  • 1 medium Onion(cut into wedges)
  • 1 medium Bell pepper(any color, cut into chunks)
  • 1 cup Pineapple chunks(fresh or canned)
  • 3 cloves Garlic(minced)
  • 1 tsp Ginger(grated)
  • 4 tbsp Ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Water
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. 1

In a bowl, toss the pork pieces with cornstarch, soy sauce, and egg white. Let it marinate for at least 10 minutes.

💡 Tip: This helps tenderize the pork and creates a light coating for frying.
  2. 2

Heat 2 tbsp of vegetable oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Stir-fry the marinated pork until golden brown and cooked through. Remove pork from the wok and set aside.

  3. 3

Add the remaining 1 tbsp of oil to the wok. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger and stir-fry until fragrant.

  4. 4

Add the chopped onion and bell pepper to the wok and stir-fry until they are crisp-tender.

  5. 5

In a small bowl, whisk together ketchup, rice vinegar, sugar, and water to make the sauce. Pour the sauce into the wok with the vegetables.

💡 Tip: Adjust sugar and vinegar to your preferred balance of sweet and sour.
  6. 6

Add the pineapple chunks and the cooked pork back into the wok. Stir everything together to coat evenly with the sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce has thickened slightly.

  7. 7

Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Serve hot, usually with steamed rice.

💡 Tip: Taste and adjust seasoning before serving.

💡 Pro Tips

  • Ensure your wok is hot before adding ingredients for a proper stir-fry.
  • Don't overcrowd the wok when cooking the pork; cook in batches if necessary.
  • For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes with the garlic and ginger.

🔄 Variations

  • Add other vegetables like carrots, snow peas, or broccoli florets.
  • Substitute chicken or firm tofu for pork.
  • For a thicker sauce, mix 1 tsp cornstarch with 1 tbsp water and stir into the sauce at the end.
