Qofte me Patate të Bardha
White Potato Fritters
Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, these white potato fritters are a simple yet delicious Albanian appetizer or side dish. They are made with grated potatoes, flour, egg, and seasonings, then pan-fried until golden brown.

🧂 Ingredients
- 500 g Potatoes(peeled and finely grated)
- 100 g All-purpose flour
- 1 large Egg
- 0.5 medium Onion(finely grated)
- 2 tbsp Fresh parsley(chopped)
- 1 tsp Salt
- 0.5 tsp Black pepper
- as needed for frying Vegetable oil
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1
Squeeze out as much liquid as possible from the grated potatoes using a cheesecloth or your hands. This is crucial for crispy fritters.
- 2
In a medium bowl, combine the squeezed potatoes, flour, egg, grated onion, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- 3
Heat about 1-2 cm of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- 4
Once the oil is hot, carefully drop spoonfuls of the potato mixture into the skillet. Flatten them slightly with the back of the spoon to form fritters.
- 5
Fry for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and crispy. Adjust heat as needed to prevent burning.
- 6
Remove the fritters from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 7
Serve hot, perhaps with a dollop of yogurt or a side salad.
💡 Pro Tips
- ✓Ensure the potatoes are well-drained to achieve a crispy texture.
- ✓Do not overcrowd the pan when frying; cook in batches.
- ✓Adjust the heat of the oil to ensure the fritters cook through without burning.
