A flavorful Honduran dish featuring crispy fried ripe plantains topped with seasoned ground beef. This dish balances the sweetness of the plantains with the savory richness of the meat, often enhanced with aromatic vegetables.

🧂 Ingredients
- 4 large Ripe plantains(peeled and sliced thinly)
- 1 lb Ground beef
- 0.5 medium Onion(finely chopped)
- 2 cloves Garlic(minced)
- 0.5 medium Tomato(diced)
- 0.5 medium Green bell pepper(diced)
- 1 tsp Achiote powder (annatto)
- 1 tsp Salt(or to taste)
- 0.5 tsp Black pepper(or to taste)
- 0.5 cup Vegetable oil(for frying)
- 2 tbsp Cilantro(chopped, for garnish)
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1
Prepare the ground beef mixture: In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- 2
Add the ground beef to the skillet. Break it up with a spoon and cook until browned. Drain off any excess fat.
- 3
Stir in the diced tomato, diced green bell pepper, achiote powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook for another 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender and the flavors have melded.
- 4
Prepare the plantains: While the meat is cooking, heat the remaining vegetable oil in a separate large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced plantains in a single layer, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
- 5
Remove the fried plantains from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 6
Assemble the dish: Arrange the fried plantains on a serving platter. Spoon the seasoned ground beef mixture over the plantains. Garnish with chopped cilantro.

- ✓Adjust the seasoning of the ground beef to your preference.
🔄 Variations
- Add other vegetables like corn or peas to the ground beef mixture.
