Maldivian Bashi Mas Kothu
A savory and satisfying dish made from mashed banana (bashi) stir-fried with shredded tuna (mas), onions, chilies, and curry leaves. It's a popular breakfast or light meal option.

🧂 Ingredients
- 3 medium Ripe plantains(peeled and mashed)
- 150 g Tuna(canned, drained, or cooked shredded tuna)
- 1 small Onion(finely chopped)
- 2 cloves Garlic(minced)
- 1-2 Green chilies(finely chopped, adjust to taste)
- 5-7 Curry leaves
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder

- 1 tbsp Vegetable oil

In a bowl, mash the ripe plantains until mostly smooth. Set aside.

Heat oil in a frying pan or wok over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until softened, about 3-4 minutes.

Add minced garlic, chopped green chilies, and curry leaves. Sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.

Stir in the turmeric powder and cook for 30 seconds.

Add the drained tuna to the pan and break it up with a spoon. Cook for 2-3 minutes, mixing with the onions and spices.

Add the mashed plantains to the pan. Stir well to combine everything. Cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring frequently, until the mixture is heated through and slightly dried out, resembling a kothu (stir-fried) texture.
