Slovenian Vanilla Slice
Kremšnita is a beloved Slovenian dessert, a delightful vanilla cream slice with a crispy puff pastry base and top, often dusted with powdered sugar. It's a quintessential treat found in cafes and homes across the country.

- 2 sheets Puff pastry(store-bought or homemade)
- 1 liter Milk
- 200 g Granulated sugar
- 100 g Cornstarch
- 6 large Egg yolks
- 2 tsp Vanilla extract
- 50 g Butter(unsalted, softened)
- for dusting Powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Unroll puff pastry sheets. Place one sheet on a prepared baking sheet and prick all over with a fork. Place the second sheet on another prepared baking sheet and prick it as well.

Bake puff pastry sheets for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed. If they puff too much, gently press them down with a spatula while still warm. Let cool completely.

In a large saucepan, whisk together milk, 150g of the granulated sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks until smooth. Add vanilla extract.
