  • 1 medium Potato(boiled and mashed)
  • 1/2 medium Onion(finely chopped)
  • 1-2 pieces Green chilies(finely chopped)
  • 1 tsp Ginger(grated)
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves(minced)
  • 5-6 leaves Curry leaves(finely chopped)
  • 2 tbsp Coriander leaves(finely chopped)
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp Chili powder(adjust to taste)
  • to taste Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper powder
  • 1 large Egg(beaten, for binding and coating)
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs(for coating)
  • for shallow frying Vegetable oil

👨‍🍳 Instructions

  1. 1

In a bowl, combine the finely minced prawns, mashed potato, chopped onion, green chilies, grated ginger, minced garlic, chopped curry leaves, and coriander leaves.

  2. 2

Add turmeric powder, chili powder, salt, and pepper powder to the mixture. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined. The mashed potato will act as a binder.

  3. 3

Shape the mixture into small, flat patties, about 2-3 inches in diameter.

  4. 4

Prepare two shallow dishes: one with beaten egg and another with breadcrumbs.

  5. 5

Dip each patty first into the beaten egg, ensuring it's fully coated, then dredge it in the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.

  6. 6

Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. The oil should be about 1/2 inch deep for shallow frying.

  7. 7

Carefully place the coated patties into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

  8. 8

Remove the patties from the pan and drain them on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or chutney.

💡 Pro Tips

  • Ensure prawns are minced very finely for a smooth texture.
  • Don't overmix the patty mixture, as it can make them tough.
  • Adjust the amount of chili and spices to your preference.

🔄 Variations

  • Add a tablespoon of finely chopped leeks for extra flavor.
  • For a spicier kick, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the mixture.
