🧂 Ingredients
- 2 cups Rice(long-grain white rice, rinsed)
- 1.5 cups Coconut milk(full-fat)
- 1 cup Water
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 tsp Salt(or to taste)
- 100 g Dried fish or small pieces of meat (optional)(e.g., anchovies, small pieces of chicken or pork)
- 1 small Onion(finely chopped (optional))
- 2 cloves Garlic(minced (optional))
- 1 tbsp Oil(vegetable or coconut oil)
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1
If using dried fish or meat, rinse and prepare it. If using onion and garlic, sauté them in oil in a pot over medium heat until softened.
- 2
Add the rinsed rice, coconut milk, water, turmeric powder, and salt to the pot. Stir well to combine.
- 3
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 20-25 minutes, or until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is tender.
- 4
If using dried fish or meat, add it during the last 10 minutes of cooking, ensuring it is distributed evenly.
- 5
Once cooked, let the rice rest, covered, for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork and serving.
