๐ง Ingredients
- Strawberries(washed and thoroughly dried, with stems attached)
- 1 cup Sugar
- 1/2 cup Water
- Toothpicks or small skewers(as needed for skewering strawberries)
- Ice water(for testing the candy syrup)
๐จโ๐ณ Instructions
- 1
Ensure your strawberries are thoroughly washed and completely dry. Insert a toothpick or small skewer into the stem end of each strawberry.
- 2
In a pan, combine 1 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of water. Stir briefly for only a few seconds to mix, then stop stirring completely.
- 3
Bring the sugar and water mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Let it boil undisturbed for approximately 14 minutes, or until it reaches a deep amber color and thickens into a syrup.
- 4
Prepare an ice water bath. To test if the syrup is ready, dip a clean chopstick or a small amount of syrup into the ice water. If the hardened syrup crunches when you bite it, it's ready.
- 5
Turn off the heat. Quickly dip each skewered strawberry into the hot sugar syrup, rotating to coat it evenly. Ensure a thin, even layer of candy forms around the fruit.
- 6
Place the coated strawberries on a non-stick surface, such as parchment paper or a silicone mat, to cool and harden completely before serving.
