Tanzanian Green Banana and Meat Stew

- 500 g Beef or goat meat(cut into 1-inch cubes)
- 4 medium Green bananas (plantains)(peeled and cut into 1-inch chunks)
- 1 large Onion(chopped)
- 3 cloves Garlic cloves(minced)
- 2 medium Tomatoes(chopped)
- 1 inch piece Ginger(grated)
- 4 cups Beef broth or water
- 1 tbsp Curry powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric
- 1 tsp Salt(or to taste)
- 0.5 tsp Black pepper
- 2 tbsp Cooking oil
- 2 tbsp Fresh cilantro(chopped, for garnish)

Heat cooking oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the cubed meat and brown on all sides. Remove meat and set aside.

Add the chopped onion to the pot and sautรฉ until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.

Add the chopped tomatoes, curry powder, and turmeric. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tomatoes soften.

Return the browned meat to the pot. Pour in the beef broth or water. Season with salt and black pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 45-60 minutes, or until the meat is tender.

Add the green banana chunks to the pot. Stir well, cover, and continue to simmer for another 15-20 minutes, or until the bananas are tender but not mushy.
