Meatballs with Potatoes and Leeks
A hearty and flavorful dish of meatballs made with a mixture of ground meat, potatoes, and leeks, seasoned with traditional herbs and spices. These meatballs are often pan-fried or baked and served as a main course or a substantial appetizer.

๐ง Ingredients
- 500 g Ground lamb or beef
- 2 medium Potatoes(peeled and finely grated)
- 1 medium Leeks(white and light green parts only, finely chopped)
- 1 small Onion(finely grated)
- 1 large Egg
- 4 tbsp Breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp Fresh parsley(chopped)
- 1 tsp Dried mint
- 1 tsp Salt
- 0.5 tsp Black pepper
- 3 tbsp Vegetable oil(for frying)
๐จโ๐ณ Instructions
- 1
In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, grated potatoes, chopped leeks, grated onion, egg, breadcrumbs, chopped parsley, dried mint, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated.
- 2
Using your hands, form the mixture into small, uniform meatballs (about 1.5 inches in diameter).
- 3
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- 4
Carefully place the meatballs in the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry in batches if necessary.
- 5
Cook the meatballs for about 8-10 minutes, turning them occasionally, until they are browned on all sides and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach 160ยฐF (71ยฐC).
- 6
Remove the cooked meatballs from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 7
Serve hot as a main course, with a side of yogurt or a fresh salad.
๐ก Pro Tips
- โFor a lighter version, bake the meatballs at 375ยฐF (190ยฐC) for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through.
- โEnsure the potatoes and leeks are finely grated to avoid large chunks in the meatballs.
- โIf the mixture seems too wet, add a little more breadcrumbs.
