Dovi ne Huku Yakagochwa
Tender, slow-cooked chicken in a rich and savory peanut butter sauce (Dovi), served alongside grilled chicken pieces marinated in traditional Zimbabwean spices.

- 1 cup Creamy peanut butter
- 1 large Onion(chopped)
- 3 cloves Garlic(minced)
- 2 medium Tomatoes(chopped)
- 1.5 teaspoons Curry powder
- 1 teaspoon Paprika
- 2 cups Water or chicken broth
- to taste Salt
- to taste Black pepper
- 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
- 4 thighs or drumsticks Chicken pieces (for grilling)
- 1 inch piece Ginger(grated)
- 2 tablespoons Lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne pepper(or to taste)

Prepare the Dovi: Heat vegetable oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and sautรฉ until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

Add the chicken pieces (for the stew) to the pot and brown them on all sides. Stir in the chopped tomatoes, curry powder, and paprika. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Pour in the water or chicken broth and stir in the peanut butter until well combined. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer gently for about 1 hour, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.

Season the Dovi with salt and pepper to taste. If the sauce is too thick, add a little more water or broth. Keep warm.

Prepare the grilled chicken: In a bowl, combine the chicken pieces for grilling with grated ginger, lemon juice, coriander powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to coat the chicken.
