- 300 g Beef stew meat(cut into cubes)
- 200 g Smoked sausage(sliced)

- 2 medium Carrots(diced)
- 200 g Turnip greens(chopped (or collard greens))
- 2 leaves Bay leaves
- 1 small Piripiri pepper(or to taste, finely chopped (optional))
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- as needed Water
- to taste Salt
- to taste Black pepper
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1
Rinse the soaked beans and place them in a large pot. Cover with fresh water by about 2 inches, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until tender. Drain and set aside.
- 2
While beans are cooking, heat olive oil in a large, heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.
- 3
Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- 4
Add the pork shoulder, beef stew meat, and sliced smoked sausage to the pot. Brown the meats on all sides.
- 5
Stir in the chopped tomatoes, diced carrots, bay leaves, and piripiri pepper (if using). Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 6
Add the cooked beans and enough water to cover everything by about an inch. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for at least 1 hour, or until the meats are tender and the stew has thickened.
- 7
Add the chopped turnip greens (or collard greens) to the pot. Stir and cook for another 15-20 minutes, or until the greens are tender.
- 8
Season the feijoada with salt and black pepper to taste. Remove bay leaves before serving.
- 9
Serve hot, traditionally with rice or xima.
