Monaco Fraise Millefeuille
A delightful layered pastry dessert featuring crisp puff pastry, rich vanilla pastry cream, and fresh strawberries, often considered a favorite in Monaco.

🧂 Ingredients
- 2 lbs Puff pastry sheets
- 2 cups Milk
- 3/4 cup Sugar
- 4 large Egg yolks
- 1 whole Vanilla pod(sliced lengthwise)
- 3.5 tbsp Corn flour
- 1/4 cup Butter
- 2/3 cup Whipping cream(whipped)
- 1.5 lbs Fresh strawberries(cleaned, hulled, and sliced)
- for dusting Powdered sugar
👨🍳 Instructions
- 1
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll out puff pastry into three thin sheets. Place on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
- 2
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed. Let cool completely.
- 3
For the pastry cream: Heat milk with vanilla pod and 1.5 tablespoons of sugar in a saucepan until simmering. Remove vanilla pod.
- 4
In a bowl, whisk egg yolks with the remaining sugar and corn flour until pale and smooth.
- 5
Gradually whisk the hot milk into the egg yolk mixture. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in the butter until melted.
- 6
Let the pastry cream cool slightly, then gently fold in the whipped cream. Cover with plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface to prevent a skin from forming, and refrigerate until chilled.
- 7
To assemble: Place one puff pastry sheet on a serving plate. Spread a layer of pastry cream over it. Arrange a layer of sliced strawberries on top.
- 8
Repeat the layers with the remaining pastry sheets, cream, and strawberries. Top with the final pastry sheet and dust generously with powdered sugar.
💡 Pro Tips
- ✓Ensure puff pastry is well-chilled before baking for maximum puff.
- ✓Make sure pastry cream is fully cooled before adding whipped cream to prevent it from deflating.
