- 0.5 lb Cabbage(thinly sliced)
- 1 medium Onion(finely chopped)
- 1 tbsp Canola oil or clarified butter
- 2 cloves Garlic(minced)
- 0.5 can Canned tomatoes(peeled and diced)
- 1 can White beans (Cannellini or similar)(drained and rinsed)
- 2 tbsp Apple cider vinegar or beet kvass
- 1 tsp Sugar
- to taste Salt

- for garnish Fresh dill or parsley

Prepare the broth: In a large pot, combine pork ribs or beef, water, bay leaves, and allspice berries. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 1-2 hours, or until the meat is tender. Skim off any foam that rises to the surface. Remove meat, discard bones, and set meat aside.

Add diced beets and sliced carrots to the broth. Cover and cook for 15 minutes.
